Just when we thought that the cruiser bike segment in India was ruled by Royal Enfield in its entirety, we have seen new players emerging into the market. It now seems like the competition for ROYAL ENFIELD is getting fierce day by day. Currently, JAWA is giving a tough chase to the legend in the classic segment and now another superbike manufacturer BENELLI enters the market. Yes, you’ve read that right. Benelli launched his first-ever retro-themed motorcycle in India.

Benelli, the first motorcycle company in Italy, launched Imperiale 400 and is positively looking to overtake the cruiser segment in India. It is the most affordable Benelli in their motorcycle line-up till now. Along with the perennial Royal Enfield Classic 350, it also takes on the new devils introduced to Indian roads rather recently: JAWA 42 and JAWA Classic.

Benelli is known for its racing bikes and has won many MotoGP and European Championships. Starting in the year 1911 in Pesaro, Italy as a small motorcycle repair shop known as Benelli Garage to a giant motorcycle brand, it took blood, sweat and tears for the Benelli family surviving through the world wars. They even repaired the war machines for Italy during the world wars. Now, let us take a look at Imperiale 400 specifications compared with both Royal Enfield and JAWA.

If we compare the technical specifications, it has very similar specs to Royal Enfield and that’s why critics are calling it a true Royal Enfield rival. It has a 374 CC Single Cylinder Four Stroke Engine installed with Fuel Injection Technology. The 374 CC engine is Air-Cooled with a 19.8 bhp power and a 5-speed gearbox. Not just specifications but also the prices are very competitive for both JAWA and Royal Enfield. The Ex-Showroom price for the vintage themed motorcycle is 1.69 lakhs while Royal Enfield classic 350 and JAWA 42 are placed at 1.39 lakhs and 1.54 lakhs respectively. The bookings have already started and the company declared to give deliveries of the Italian devil from Diwali onwards.
