Tarantino has been a class apart in the realm of moviemaking regarded by many as one of the best of all time. Story, Cinematography, Music, and Screenplay everything just blends in perfectly in every Tarantino film. It is only in a Tarantino film you can witness a rap song (Tupac’s Untouchable) in a western (Django Unchained) and still not lose the context. He is indeed that good. With his 9th release here are his 5 masterpieces that everyone should experience:
- The Hateful Eight
A satisfying manifestation of Quentin’s signature mix of humor, action and overblown violence. The film stars Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell with the entire story set almost a decade after the civil war.
- Inglorious Bastards
Could have easily been at the top if not for Quentin’s other classics. Begins in Germany occupied France where Shoshana Dreyfus witnesses the execution of her family by a Nazi colonel called Hans Landa. What follows is the story of Shoshana seeking revenge against the Nazi Reich and an array of connected stories blending in perfectly. Sporting stunning performances by Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, and Christoph Waltz.
- Kill Bill (Vol1 & 2)
An action-heavy classic story of revenge expressed in the classic Tarantino way. The predecessor adds the extra flavor which further accented its predecessor. The combination of Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino worked like a charm yet again in this masterpiece.
- Reservoir Dogs
Packed with intelligence and relentless energy Reservoir Dogs skyrocketed Tarantino’s film making career to new heights. It literally transformed Tarantino overnight from a part-time actor and unproduced screenwriter to one of the most influential filmmakers of the 90s. If you know Quentin you should definitely know Reservoir Dogs
- Pulp Fiction
It is true that Tarantino’s movies are like Hanzo swords and can only be compared to his own movies. The bar Tarantino set with this film is yet to be broken even by himself. This movie is not just Tarantino’s number one masterpiece to date but also one of the most influential films of 1990. It defined an era with stunning performances by Samuel Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and John Travolta. If you think of pitch-black humor, over the top violence and language you will most certainly always think of Pulp Fiction.
The world awaits the release of his 9th film (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) that promises an entirely new approach to filmmaking as quoted by Tarantino himself. The star-studded cast with Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie makes the proposition all the more exciting. It releases on 15th August 2019 at a theatre near you.
